Planned Breedings (click here for current breeding plans)
Established performance homes will be given first consideration for my litters. Scroll down for more information on how to obtain a puppy.
Because of the frequent
emails I receive, I have provided some advice to you as a prospective home:
Note: To prospective buyers looking for puppies primarily as companion pets : Please understand that even though I emphasize biddability and stable temperament, I breed to produce dogs for competition and working ability. As such, my dogs generally are more intense and have stronger drive than the average companion dog. If you are a prospective pet owner looking for a house companion/back yard dog that would not likely have a great opportunity for regular intense exercise and training, my dogs would not likely be the ideal candidate for your home. I am not casual breeder. I plan my litters, carefully screen prospective homes, and place my pups in homes that I feel that there is a good match between the characteristics of the pup, level of experience of the home, expectation and understanding of the breed.
I strongly encourage any interested person to call me (540 289-5587 after 8pm ET weekdays) so that I can get better idea of what you are looking for and what your level of experience is. I frequently get emails asking, "Do you have a pup available?" with no other information. It indicates that the person probably hasn't taken any time to read the information on my website, and thus probably hasn't taken any time to do much research. I rarely take these emails seriously and generally don't answer them. If you are seriously searching for a pup of excellent quality and breeding, then call me and we can talk further. PS, Just a word of advice: When a prospective home contacts a responsible experienced breeder, breeders expect that you introduce yourself, and explain what you are looking for and your level of experience with the breed. With that, I will be more than happy to provide you with any information I can to help you in your search.
Puppy Placement Information
If you are interested in obtaining a Patriot puppy, the information below will
give you an idea of what our process is in placing our puppies.
Welcome.... to the Patriot Hill Farm Puppy Inquiry page. If you would like more information about how to obtain a puppy from one of our upcoming litters, please read the paragraph below.
Due to the overwhelming interest in Patriot litters, I do not promise any puppy to any individual until until I make a final selection as to which puppy(ies) I may keep in my own training/breeding program. The puppies are always raised in my house using the Neurological Stimulation Program, with background music/dog show tapes, and lots of puppy interaction and toys. The pups are aptitude tested and evaluated (using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test format at the 49th day of age) if I have a knowledgeable evaluator available. I don't take deposits to hold a pup (unless there is a written acceptance of the pup) nor do I keep "waiting or reservations" lists.
I encourage and accept puppy applications any time but prefer to receive them once a pregnancy is confirmed. I don't breed that often so when I do, I usually have quite a bit of interest so I do encourage you to call me so we can talk. When the puppies are 4 weeks old I will begin reviewing the applications in anticipation of a puppy match. If you are interested in obtaining a Patriot puppy, just complete the application , and either mail or email it to me at Patriot Hill Farm, Jana Brady, 605 Mt. Olivet Church Rd, Elkton. VA 22827 or firstname.lastname@example.org You must be 18 years or older to purchase a puppy from Patriot Hill Farm and our contract is between me and one person who is the legal Applicant/Buyer. Submission of an application DOES NOT guarantee a puppy offer nor does it obligate you in any way.
The purpose of the Application is get some information about you and what you are looking for in a puppy, why you want a Patriot puppy and what your goals are for the pup. I will use this information solely to try to match your desires with the right puppy for you. Once I make a recommendation to you for a particular puppy, you may decline or accept. In most cases, I prefer to place puppies with established performance handlers. Since I have a number of repeat clients who have come back for 2nd and 3rd pups, I also give them preference. Keep in mind that my puppies come from proven obedience, agility and herding lines so the puppy that you apply for will need a career in addition to being a companion partner. If you have previously earned performance titles on another dog, please be sure to put that on your application so that I can make a more suitable match. Keep in mind that I do not place pups outside the United States or Canada and do not place pups in homes where the dog is allowed to run at large, even in a rural setting, or the means of containment outside is a radio shock collar and/or "invisible" fence. My pups are placed on spay/neuter contracts. On rare occasion, I will consider placing a pup with an "intact" clause for an established breeder who is well known to me.
In order to be fair with everyone that has expressed a strong desire to have a puppy from a particular Patriot litter, I will work with each applicant individually if I think there is a possibility of a good match. I will work with you until either a puppy is agreed upon and I receive a written acceptance of my puppy offer or ...I determine that there is no suitable puppy that meets your desires. Once an offer of a puppy is made by Patriot Hill Farm and accepted in writing by the applicant, the pup is not held until I receive a $200.00 deposit which becomes non-refundable.
Once the puppy is selected and accepted, the full balance of the payment is due prior to release (or shipment) to the new owner. If the puppy is to be shipped via commercial transportation, I prefer that the puppy is shipped between 7 and 8 weeks of age. Depending on the time of year, shipment by air transportation may not be possible so arrangements must be made to pick the puppy up. Please understand that I will not release a puppy to anyone other than the new owner or airline personnel for commercial shipment. In other words, "friends" can not pick up your puppy for you. Any deposits received by me at the time of receipt of written acceptance from you of a puppy offer, is not refundable but may be used toward the purchase of another puppy.
Pricing: Dependent on each specific breeding but generally puppies range from $800 - $1,200.
